When things turn around it will be a result of the governments around the world having pumped money of all kinds into the system. This will cause a surge in inflation as economies start to tick up. That's why I've been and continue to be bullish on precious metals and the miners of said metals. Really, anything that is sensitive to inflation is a good place to be.

The armageddon nuts and gold bugs always think that gold is the place to be, but in this case that does not mean they are wrong.

You can blame TMFBreakerDave for me adding pitches to so many of my picks.

Trying a sector bet. Let's see if I picked the wrong time and/or sector. No guts, no glory.

Great land prospects with great reserves and now going into production which is a great change for this company. Possible buyout but excellent by itself on the gold, silver bull.

Gold and silver have taken a sudden drop during the past week. Many speculators are panicing and claiming that this is the end of the "commodity bubble". I don't think so. If you look at the fundamental reason behind the last 6 months rise in precious metals, you have to ask yourself....has anything changed? I don't think so. The Fed continues to pump liquidity into the market, the interest rate continues to decline, inflation continues to increase and the dollar continues to fall. That being said....if due to demand decreases oil drops sharply from here...there is a possibility that precious metals will follow. Precious metals will experience quite a bit of volatility and the gyrations may be tough to handle but I think due to the fundamentals that I mentioned above that a year from now precious metals will be much higher.

This is not one I own in real life so I don't know it very well... but after a cursory look I've judged it good enough for my CAPS portfolio, and one to watch for a possible real-life investment. It's still very hard to go wrong within the precious metals sector... virtually everything will continue to go up! But that's not to diminish the huge impact that due dilligence has on finding the greatest performers.

Since 2001, Vista has acquired a number of gold projects with the expectation that higher gold prices would significantly increase their value. Vista is undertaking programs to advance the Paredones Amarillos Project, including a definitive feasibility study and the purchase of long delivery equipment items, so that construction can begin during the second half of 2008. The results of a preliminary assessment completed in 2007 on the Mt. Todd Project in Australia were encouraging and additional technical studies are underway with a definitive feasibility study planned for completion by mid-2009. Vista’s other holdings include the Guadalupe de los Reyes Project in Mexico, Yellow Pine Project in Idaho, Awak Mas Project in Indonesia, Long Valley Project in California, and Amayapampa Project in Bolivia.

Now that the Chinese stock market is in tune again with New York and that it is going down, oil and gold won't be able to keep moving higher.

I don't know why VGZ is falling of a cliff, but I like it long-term and am buying more now.

Gold's price should increase due to a declining dollar. Most of the major stocks will soon go down, especially with the baby boomers starting to retire shortly, allowing the miners to beat the S&P 500.

I was in Vista Gold (VGZ) for about 9 months, and did well for the first few months, but then fell back, and I've lost about 12%, so I've decided to get rid of it. It's one of only 2 Gold HOARDERS, and it will probably do OK, especially when the price of GOLD starts to increase, but for now--------

I don't know how caps works with spinoffs but thats why I like this company. I believe that it is undervalued and by spinning off its Nevada assetts at this time is a great opportunity. I think this is a great short term play and also Vista Gold in general as prospect generator will pay off in the longer term.
