Look at the price to tangible book of some drillers & oil services companies:
Schlumberger (SLB) 6.4
National Oilwell Varco (NOV) 5.0
Transocean (RIG) 2.7
ENSCO (ESV) 1.5
Unit Corp (UNT) 1.2
Parker Drilling (PKD) 1.2
Precision Drilling (PDS) 1.1
Rowan Drilling (RDC) 1.0 (my favorite)
Bronco Drilling (BRNC) 0.6 (debt/distressed)
Vantage (VTG) 0.4 (!!!!!)
There is barely any earnings history to speak of, so that is the extent of my analysis.

Speculative play on my part. This was a TMF pick from last week. It is sitting right in the middle of its 52 week range, so it has equal potential. Regardless, oil and the industry that works with it will see increased revenues when the economy starts booming again. As a holding company, they are not restricted to simply playing the oil game, so they have the potential (although nothing indicates that they will) to move into other energy related areas.

Small New build fleet coming online in the next few years...already have large, longterm deals with Petro and others. Managing rigs as well. Solid mgt. team for what I consider a new co ( co's ipo'd within last 5 yrs.) This could turn out to be a real cash cow. Deep water global driller before it takes off.
Two years from now...this stock will be much higher.

great speculative play....it may take some time to break out but i think it has great players to make this a successful company....board of directors, TMT, and management.

Appears to be a holding company without any holdings. No notable income. Looks to be more like an excuse to pay someone a six figure salary while they "look" for acquisitions. I say nay.

The company awaiting results of a restructuring to change from Delaware to the Cayman Islands. Also will increse capitalization when this change approved. It has purchased one drill ship with the option for a 2nd.
If all clicks the company will soar.

I like the below $10 price and its potential for a good return.

This is an SPAC, an aquisition company in search of a product. This company has decided on buying 4 oil rigs and deploying them. I despise SPACs because they give 20% of equity in the acquired company to management, at the expense of shareholders. This is bad for fools.
The company is also circulating misleading presenation materials claiming their cash flow multiple is 2 compared to other companies in their industry at 12. The following fool article, Top Secret Energy Plays, debunks that myth:
http://www.fool.com/investing/high-growth/2008/04/04/top-secret-energy-plays.aspx
From the article:
All of these rigs are being built on spec. There are no contracts attached, and it's up to Vantage to secure work in advance of the rig deliveries.
At the helm of Vantage Energy is Paul Bragg, a former Pride International chief executive. In 2005, Pride's board showed Bragg the door after years of botched construction programs and other disappointments. It was an ugly split, with the suddenly former CEO suing for breach of contract, and Pride countersuing for breach of fiduciary duty.

I don't trust a company that is misleading and puts the needs of executive ahead of shareholders. This company is definately going down...
