I've added this fund to my portfolio to tap into the emerging market sector without too much undo stress. Expense fees are some of the lowest out there for this kind of ETF. Its broad diversification lowers the some of this volatility that comes with this sector.

Wow! My first ETF. I've never owned an ETF before or any mutual fund either for that matter. This looks like a winner though.

This is the first pick I found- the little dickens- using the fantabulous new Caps advanced screen. I screened for 5 star stocks, market cap less than 250M, and a high number of pitches. It spit out 13 and I chose this one. I already own another, Healthgrades, which I've had for the last 18 months or so.

Go Dog go!

Over the long term, foreign markets will beat the S&P 500 because they have more room to grow in an era of globalization.

Vanguard Emerging Markets ETF (formerly Vanguard Emerging Markets VIPERs), is an open-end investment company or MUTUAL FUND, which invests in foreign stocks, making it potentially more risky than an ETF investing in US stocks. Investor (VIPER) shares, initially offered on 3-10-2005, are available to investors who meet "minimum purchase requirements." That minimum is a hefty $10,000, which carries an annual maintenance fee of $1,000-to-$5,000 for an initial issue, and a $500 annual maintenance for additional issues. A look at PRIMECAP Odyssey Aggressive has been suggested for those who cannot afford VWO (Due Diligence required, of course.)

Global diversification is going to be a must this year. Don't think our economy is going to be anywhere close to Brazil's, China's, or India's economies.

Although I like Asia Pacific Tiger and Dodge and Cox International more, if you are already in Vanguard funds, it would be a great way to diversify your holdings without much trouble.

Taking advantage of the rapid growth of emerging markets and the low expenses provided by Vanguard, this ETF should trade up for a while.
