Verizon is undergoing through Finance Transformation internally to make it one of the top companies that have an efficient Finance Department. This will reduce costs but not lose good talent.

It is hard to find anyone these days that does not have a cell phone. Verizon being one of the biggest wireless companies in America, it is hard to think that they will go away. Verizon can only grow from here.

VZ has climbed nicely since early in the year and this has been at a proven enough pace for me to like it at this price. Paying 3.9% Yield is the bonus that puts this over the edge in holding onto VZ for 5+ years.

it has outrageously high P/E and payout ratios. can't imagine that the conservative investors that gravitate toward VZ will keep buying more- best to cash in now at year + highs and buy again cheaper

The issue with Verizon and it's market cap is that they primary revenue generating part of the business is owned by VOD.
Either they will eventually need to take on a large aMOUNT OF DEBT to buyout from VOD and then their network will suffer. The perception that VZ operates a better network than T is just that, a perception. remember VZ aquired WorldCom who cut every corner and cheated all their investors with fake revenues. This caused many in the TELCOM industry to lose their jobs as the rest of the industry tried to keep up.
T is the player with returns from smartphones coming in multiples of what the land line business generated.

Will remain relevant and important for many years to come. Verizon tends to rank high in customer satisfaction among the major telecoms, and I hear few complaints or bad press exclusive to them versus T-Mobile or AT&T, etc. The 4.8% yield here is solid, and forward P/E is reasonable.

VZW still provides the best phone coverage. Especially important if you're doing business in NY City. I've tried all of the four largest carriers and had the fewest dropped calls on Verizon Wireless. There are areas in the U.S. where AT&T and even T-Mobile or Sprint are stronger, but now that VZW is finally adding more exciting phones w Global Coverage like the RAZR M, I believe they are the most committed of the carriers to improvement and expansion.

1. iPhone 5 unlocked out of the box (product advantage)
2. Fastest LTE network (service advantage)
3. More network coverage than all competitors combined (service advantage + business capacity)
4. Competitive pricing (neutral)
5. Consistent dividend
6. Lower P/E than AT&T at half the market cap
7. They allow large downloads (like torrents) over LTE unlike their competitors (service advantage)
8. Decent financials

The only major provider worth a hoot. Good dividend and best service in the game makes Verizon a long-term winner.

Verizon's plans to take over appear to be on target - they certainly get a lot of my money every month. Also I hear they pay a good dividend.
