ATT and Verizon are the Coke and Pepsi of Telecom.

It's said there are negotiations in the works for Apple to drop its exclusive contract with AT&T ijn early 2010 and switch to the 3G superior VERIZON (tick: VZ) network. This means all thoose new Iphones not including the steadily increasing Motorola Droid smart phones will substantially increase VERIZON's bottom line! Indications sugguest that this may be the last week to pick up Verizon at a low price target beow $32.

VZ has got to make some SERIOUS improvements to customer service if they want to retain current customers and attract new customers.
I don't care how many new / fancy products they come out with. They even brought the VA SCC down on themselves as of 11/01/09 due to delays in service of up to ten days that were far to common. They now have a "required" two day turn around time with up to $10,000 a day fines for failing to meet that deadline.

I like dividends and VZ pays good. VZ, just like T provides the pipes that we use everyday to transact our business, and the airwaves that we use to communiate. Lots of upside in the 21st century for communications.

LOOZA! Verizon stock has been performing poorly, but introduction of the new FiOS cable TV and Internet system is picking up strength, and cell phone sales are strong. Short sell this one in a down market, or trade up on bullish rallys. Price revolving around the 29-32 range without much action. Mid-large market cap.
