Verizon has the Droid, a great phone (better than the I-phone) that came out in Dec 2009, and a a great network of coverage. Verizon should do well until Dec 2011 as customers from other phone companies finish their two-year contracts and then switch to Verizon.
Recs
I like the telecommunications industry as a long term growth prospect.

VZ has the best wireless network and the best wireline (FiOS). They're doing well with Android and the will get the iPhone in a few years. Plus, there's the lovely dividend.
Recs
Soon this phone company will make some decisions that will generate lots of interest in their company.
Recs
Dividend payout is too high as is the debt load and forward PE compared to the return on equity.
Recs
Combination of its Network Coverage and generous Divident.
Recs
growth and a great dividend while waiting
Recs
Increasing competition in mobile phones will make more attractive Verizon's models. Iphone could be released for selling at Verizon and more demand for bandwidth could boost enterprise businesses

I think Sprint will start picking up momemtum. They are on the right track and I think they will have to be the first to start offering services at more realistic pricing and with more realisitic terms to get more subscribers to notice their product. Earnings won't suffer as they will increase market share. I am currently a Verizon subscriber and continue to battle with myself to make the switch to Sprint. I feel Verizon is ARROGANT!
Recs
It would be a great dividend play if the price would only stop slowly falling.
Right now it's equivalent to a Sinking Fund. (A Sinking Fund provides income by paying interest plus a small part of the principle in each installment.)

WILL CONTINUE TO GET MARKET SHARE FROM ATT. WITH DATA PLANS MONTHLY RATE PER CUSTOMER WILL INCREASE.

potential sales growth from iphone plus strong dividend yield in a down market makes vz an easy call

Android will dominate the smartphone market for the foreseeable future. iPhone will also be joining Verizon. AT&T and T-Mobile provide poorer quality service, with AT&T being too expensive particularly for smartphone users that want an unlimited data plan. Verizon is positioned to be the company for the exploding smartphone market.

sold on 8/9/10 @ $30

VZ has the droid 2 which will be hot for christmas....and the iphone is rumored to be going there as well.

i don't think it is as much of an iphone story but more of a credit card story or should i say a credit phone story. The iphone is good if they get it and will probably move the stock back into the mid 30's again but when the start putting those chips in the phone making them into more like a credit card i believe there should be some growth potential there based upon credit transactions. both at&t and Verizon are both doing it but i think the att jumped the gun with there tier pricing plan which will probably move people to vz. plus now were getting a wave of tablet computers coming into play now. cablevision and direct tv are trying to stream live content so data plans are going to be very important (the affordable ones). So this one should be a long term gainer plus the 7% dividend paid to wait. :)

I'll try out Fios first.. Then think about investing...
