this stock is sinking faster than Mel Gibson's acting career. I will jump back in at $32 on the upswing (two years from now)

WAG is up 10% on lower revenues. Competition from in hospital drug stores, supermarkets, walmart, target and mail order must be hurting sales.
I think this business model is hurting. It is neither a supermarket, nor a convenience store. I'll be sorry to see these WAG stores fade away. For decades this was a well run company and it is a tough redthumb.

Rapid overexpansion leaves this company somewhat exposed. They are also not doing as effective a job in the generic drugs market as other drugstore chains/retail pharmacies. When you can get most generics for 4 bucks a month at target or walmart, why go to walgreens? CVS acquisition of caremark a while back was a trump. I see this stock underperforming in 2009.

Walgreens is a great company. But in seeing in today's prescription world, business is so spread out among competitors. In order to keep up with their advancements over the age, Walgreens needs to become a blockbuster in some specified niche. Until this happens, Walgreens will see their business decline. Wait until the pharmacists get from behind the counter to interacting more with the patients, and then it is in my opinion that public opinion of the "Pharmacy America Trusts" will bolster to it's once untouchable status and with this stock prices will soar.

With the purchase of Caremark, CVS is filling more the twice the amount of prescriptions as WAG and that's with similar store counts. Not factoring in non pharmacy sales, WAG is going to have to play some serious catch-up just on the prescription end.

Walgreens seems to be not keeping up with others such as CVS and has a knack for just not making piles of money. They have never been able to go up without having extremely hard falls.

i think the financials look decent on this stock. however, i have read some blogs on this stock. it seems they might have some law suits going forward and this could seriously hurt share prices going forward for sometime. also, i hear of price gouging from this company. also a negative for business. and then there is undercutting of prescription prices from online sellers which seem to be taking market share from this stock.
looks like they have their hands full trying to remedy these situations. therefore, i find the stock unattractive for at least a year. i feel this is one to watch closely to see how they navigate through these troubles before picking up any shares.

This company has the ability to explode, but seems to have a security problem. CVS is keeping pace.

Forget metrics on this one. This company ruined a highly respected, favorite local chain they bought out that everyone now hates. This is no way to run a company.

very low dividend. cost of filling prescriptions will increase, with too much cut rate competition.

This overpriced stock has been essentially flat for over two years. Walgreens pushed their stock for years and years, and now everyone has to wait for the value to catch up to the price.

Financially WAG is rock solid; competition and saturation of some exisiting markets is a concern, as is decreasing rx margins.
