Downthumb. Extremely high valuations. Only 18% sales growth. Nominal debt ratio. Nominal cash flow.

With Western Europe already out of recession and Eastern Europe seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, non-cyclical, basic material, and energy companies in Russia, such as WBD, which have taken a real beating in the so-called Great Recession, stand poised to be among the first to gain. To reiterate: improving domestic and regional economy; company oversold; strong, viable company with low debt and good sales/distribution network; stabilizing ruble; and if you disagree with all the above reasons, non-cyclicals are always a good, (comparatively) safe bet.

Russia needs to eat.

Cyclical action in an uncertain market in an adverse environment.
Recs
People have to eat, and this Russian food company has dropped a long way in the past year. It has been moving up the past few months, and it should approximate a healthy piece of its earlier status.
Recs
food manufacturer in Russia trading at depression valuations.
even the poor and those cutting back spending still need to eat.

I don't believe in Russia as a market. Growth is great, but when the state can giveth, and then taketh away, its not great for shareholders. However, milk seems to be far from Steel and Energy as a focus for Putin et. al., so while still risky, it has every chance of staying dominant.

Best Russian consumer company, strong ruble, long termism
Recs
At 44 times earnings, this company looks expensive. However, the Russian middle class is growing very quickly. This means more demand for consumer staples. With Russian economy continuing to be string due to high gas prices in 2008. I expect this company to have extremely strong revenues.
Recs
This company should continue to profit from the growing Russian middle class, as they will eat and drink more and more "healthy" products like yoghurts and juice, instead of just knocking down a vodka and eating gherkins. Its expected 5 year earnings growth is more than 30% annually, after having increased earnings by 80% annually in the last 5 years, according to yahoo! finance, http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ae?s=WBD
Oh, and some day, they will take over Coke, who knows... ;-)
Recs
As of close of business on 12/18/07, this was a 1-star Morningstar stock trading at more than double it's Morningstar fair value.
Recs
overvalued, no moat. advertising is limited.
Recs
High P/E. Majority of company growth is through M&A activity, not organic growth. Russian economy is unstable, government leaders very unpredictable. Recently set price controls on some food staples until the next election, not a good sign for a staple food manufacturer.
This one has been on my watch list forever, finally gained 50% from where I first marked it and I couldn't resist throwing in a red thumb.
Recs
This company is great. They have an arm and a leg up on competition in Russia. This is a moneymaker.
