Financial stocks carry a P/E ratio of 22.4, and the so-called "recovery" has been especially strong in bank stocks. Therefore, I’m concentrating my shorting interest in the banking sector.

This is a good solid bank as a result of a near death experience in the 90s recession, and the culture change imposed by a top US banker Bob Joss.. (Thanks Bob!) With the prudential regime for banks in Australia ensuring capital adequacy and Westpac taking over St. George, a popular mid-size regional bank, there would be worse banks to take a punt on. Finally there are 4 large national banks in Australia and Westpac is one of the two best ones..
