The produce is amazing. The stores are full with beautifully displayed merchandise. The staff is intelligent and likable. They have all the ingredients for success when we come out of the recession. What they stand for and promise is in sync.

With the economic downturn, I have seen people focusing on back-to-basics things and actually spending more money where it really counts. Healthy food really counts. My experiences at Whole Foods have been consistently great. They have good selection, great fresh produce, and highly intelligent and fun employees.

Whole Foods has room for about 10% capitalization growth to catch up with SPY over the last 2 years. 1 year pick to close the gap.

We are at a point in time where eating healthier and better foods are going to be a mainstay in American life, at least for those of us who can afford it. Looking at our local Whole Foods, the place is always packed and when it comes to food, this isn't an area where people should skimp, and I think more and more people are coming to that conclusion. This isn't about a $5 latte that we can make without, this about daily sustinence that will contribute to our overall health. Very very different, and I think that's where Wall Stree is making it's mistake when it says that people will constinue to trade down for cheaper foods...
