Most of the large volume has been negative. The trend is up, but the earnings look to be slipping, although the divy went up! Not sure if that is enough to get through it. I could be way off here, not 100% sure on this.

Excellent Valuation, confirmed by strong buybacks. Plus diversification because Healthcare insurance is negatively correlated with economic cycle. During recessions people don't go to the doctor and that improves margins at insurers. Still some obamacare hangover in the health insurance sector..

Health insurance is insulated from Europe and this company has a low p/e and pays a small dividend.

Congress will not cut health care, it would be political suicide.
An aging population of obese people makes it an easy call that health care demand will grow over the long term. People will continue to look for health care solutions such as lap-band, gastric bypass instead of healthier lifestyles. Pick up the strong and low p/e health care companies in this current environment of investor doom.

before obama got elected WLP was headed for 100+,
it got slammed by OBAMACARE and the worst case scenario (socialized medicine), now that the outlook is better the stock is moving up and at $65 is still undervalued. My target is $100

With a P/E of 5, this stock has substantial downside support.
If the profits continue over the next 5 years like the previous 5 years, the target price would be 100 to 150.

Definite outperform against S&P.
Fair value $80.
Currently trading at $54 there might a little short term downside though.

Low PE, strong cash flow, industry is going to get bigger. Has more debt (~$8B, 30% of equity) than I'd like to see in a company like this, but manageable.
My concern with companies like this is the potential for major disruptive change in the marketplace. The current health care model (including health insurance) has some major defects and so is vulnerable to large scale changes of an unpredictable nature that might help or harm existing health industry companies.

This stock is extremely cheap in terms of its forward P/E ratio. It has a strong balance sheet with plenty of cash on hand. Short term risk is a political one. Fundamentals though are strong.

This is a health care provider with about 10% of American population as its customer. Currently, it is very cheap (P/E=5, P/S=0.4, and P/B=0.9). It has tons of cash at its disposal and Return on Equity is about 20. When you hit rock bottom, you can only go up and that seems to be the situation for this company. The health care reform in US would add to its clientele and thus the earning.
