Health insurers have cut the doctors as far as they can be cut (they are now quitting the networks) and squeezed customers as far as they can be squeezed. HOw long do you think a school teacher can continue to pay $800 a month so she can pay a $40 copay at the doctor? Do NOT buy these stocks.

Lost money last quarter ( a lot of money) and has a fairly small income of 50K per employee for over 1 million in revenue. This sector has been bid up and this stock pays no dividends.

I worked there. Simply put :
- high turnover at the C level
- relying on size and reputation. Competitiors are trying to differienate while they seem complacent on copying and lagging
- Doing a very poor job of integregating WLP and Anthem even 2 years post merger (multiple databases still not merged)
- Poor customer service (although there were programs starting to address this when I left)
- Works like 16 different companies (one in each state) with 16 different sets of rules and 16 different sets of competitors. This is 16 sets of executives trying to address what is best for their state and not WLP (selfish and inefficient)
- Refuses to market themselves on any level expect mail (when is the last time you read something from a health insurance company?)
- Corporate atmosphere of CYA and passing the buck (ties in with previous merger comment)
- Totally unprepared to deal with a Democratic White House
Currently a big player but seems to be doing little to stay that way. C level seems to think the Blue name will carry them but they do not realize that "blue" does not carry the same brand equity with post boomer generation.
