holiday season will not be good this year therefore Walmart will not beat the S&P500.

How much bigger can these guys get? Their seem to be in the catagory of "Too big to fail"....If they really want to survive they'll have to take better care of their employees. Better pay, extensive health plans that are affordable and the ability to keep their employees on the pay roll over an extended career. Their obsticle to having a union in their midst will desolve the support of other Union members who look out for eachother especially when times get tough as the present conditions prevail over these next years of recovery . Wal-Mart market share will be decreasing if they continue to bury their heads in the sands.

Talk to anyone who shops @ Costco and compairs them to Sams Club and receive the real picture as to where they are now concentrating their hard earned dollars. Wal-Mart may be one of the lowest prices on he block but most competors will match their pricing in any item.

If you were working at Wal-Mart or Costco...where would you like to stay for the best deal for yourself and your family?

Wake up WM and stop treating your employees as if they were cotton pickers and third class citizens. People in China are not going to put up with your control methods much longer either!!!!

Truthfully, I think the Company's beginning to be too big. Quick ratio is a low and overall it just doesn't seem like the store it used to be. Kudos for renovating a lot of stores to make them more current, but I think dumping money into a face lift isn't going to help. Holiday season is here, and I'd like to see some major sales. Like others have said, it's not the same Wal-Mart as old.

I agree with another Fool, they will need to begin focus on online selling as we begin to move away from Walmart's "Always Low Prices" and move to Google and Bing Shopping

When I look at a company like Wal-Mart and I see them attempting to enter the discount online marketplace to compete with the likes of Amazon, this is a major red flag to me. This stock has gone nowhere recently, despite the fact that, we are on the "outskirts" or the worst recession in recent memory. I can't tell you exactly how their numbers have been performing, though one would assume their business would increase as consumers become more thrifty. Drawing in and retaining customers who have never shopped at WMT before the recession seems to me what they should be focusing on. The fact that they are trying to compete with Amazon in selling discount books online shows me that upper management has their priorities out of whack. Regardless of whether or not they are successful in this attempt, I doubt they will be, it will not have any impact on their bottom line.

I see the power of wal-mart diminishing as the world economic climate changes. If anything I see them staying flat. How much cheap plastic crap can we consume beyond what we already do?

My most certain pick of the year. There are so many reasons as to why this stock will not outperform the market.

1) Already had its prime, as the recession fades away, investors should veer away from stocks like this.

2) Management is horrible at all levels. I know from experience. They hire the wrong type of people for the industry they are in.

3) Low-grade employees. This will catch up to them sooner or later. About 2% of their employees make a respectable salary.

4) Theft/Shoplifting: The local Walmart lost 3.6 million last quarter due to theft and shoplifting. A self-service, 24hr, supercenter in a crime-riddled city? How can you expect different?

5) Are making a transition towards a cleaner, spacier, and smaller storefront. This is not necessarily a problem, but this is not how walmart became one of the best companies in the world. They would regularly fill the store with as much as they can take, charge the lowest they can, and put the best brands and products on the shelf, and try to make the customer spend as much as possible before they walk out. I don't know what changed but they changed they're philosophy in my region three weeks ago. Other regions will soon follow. Sales for leading brands WILL decrease because of this.

6) TARGET! They;re an excellent company and are HUNTING for Walmart's economic position.

7) Other competitors (BJs, BigLots, SamsClub)

8) Bad relationship with leading vendors (Nabisco, Campbell, Keebler, Pepsi)

9) The stock has simply too much daily volume.

10) Walmart brands are disgusting. Did you ever try their fish or fruit?

Walmart will remain one of the leading companies in the US due to its brand, but I would stay far away when it comes to investing in its stock. They won't be going out of business anytime soon but they're steering away from the ideology that made them who they are today.

WMT has outgrown itself. Once the flower girl of winners, it is now stuck on stalmate and can't seem to get off of go. All the innovative ideas they predicted for decades have now been worn out and are being better implemented by Best Buy, Costco and others.

Over-Saturated, once economy recovers people will go back to shopping at costco and target. My reasoning behind this is that where I come from, shopping at wal-mart is a sign that you are poor. I can see people lowering their shopping at wal-mart to remove that poor stigma they receive from shopping their.

Overpriced right now, with P/E more than 10, book value only worth $16.63, and poor fundamentals, with gross profit margin only 24%, much less than 40% to give it a sustainable competitive advantage, and S/G/A expenses taking a huge chunk out of the gross profit.

The reason WMT works so well and is able to keep prices low is there are no unions. The current threat of developing unions within the WMT workforce is not a good thing. If unions are developed then it will hurt operating costs, and drive prices higher. I'll wait until they work out these issues.

If your alive then you've probably shopped at WMT...That being said... it's garbage. Every food section is seeing a shrink in variety offered, being replaced by GV, Great Value for WMT but not for our taste buds. Although I project a better market share in electronics; My grocery bet goes to HEB. With the demise of eating out people will begin demand a decent meal at home. And if you still have a couple of $$ burning a hole in your pocket...McDonalds is a BUY....along with McCafe.
