Who can compete with Wall Mart? Barring government intervention or unionization of the emploees I see this being a company that will continue to grow.

Outperform, because although they are very large, they continue to capture growing sales by offering everyday items at generally lower prices.

Thirty years ago, it would've been just as stupid to be bearish towards Sears as it is to be bearish towards Wal Mart now. Think about it.

While WMT is a big playa in the retail industry, they are primarily targeting the lower income groups. As the economy rebounds and more people go back to work, more of WMT's recent customer base (those that have started shopping at WMT in the last 2 years) will go back to buying from more "upscale" outlets, like Target and Kroger (Fred Meyer). Wal-Mart is knowen around the world for running an effecient (brutaly so where employees are concered) operation, so I ask myself, how long can they beat the low cost drum, befor there is nothing left to improve to streamline their bussiness model? Wal-mart will continue to chug along, blowing thier own horn, while the rest of the market grows around them.

We will continue to see a rotation out of defensive issues into economic cyclicals as more people realize that the economy is strengthening. Add on top of that a strengthening dollar and you have less repatriated earnings for the multi-nationals. Generally speaking, many of the big/mega-caps are not the place to be....yet!

I'd never been much of a Walmart fan but just bought a great media stand from them. I think they can really move up market

Wal-Mart continues to offer lower prices for almost all it's products and in this downturn of the economy and jobs, savings is paramount.

Wal-Mart continues to provide top-notch service with a smile in cities, large and small alike, throughout the US. Wal-Mart has taken over K-Mart and Target's loyal customers with better prices, better customer service and/or more convenient locations - often with full-service grocery stores included, and other perks. McDonald's, Car repair shops, outdoor garden centers, etc.

At around $55 Wal-Mart appears to be a good value. I'd like to see a little higher yield than the current 2 1/4% but low valuation ratios make now a good time to own this great company. I don't foresee any huge growth from WMT in the immediate future, but it should beat the S&P over the next five years as Wal-Mart continue to take business away from specialty retailers and more and more people take advantage of the convenience and low prices of shopping at WMT. Online Retail such as Amazon.com is sure to take a bit of a bite out of Wal-Mart's profits. I predict items such as technology to be hit hardest. However, WMT still has a huge advantage when selling items that need to be bought regularly or immediately.

A haven during bad times, but still doing well in good times as they market themselves to more upscale consumers looking to be thrifty. No one else has the purchasing power and distribution system as lean as WMT.

how much further does wmt have to grow? Also as income and economy picks up people will start going back in buying without caring about the price they are paying for everyday goods.
