Wumart Stores, Inc., along with its subsidiaries, is principally engaged in the operation and management of superstores and mini-marts. As at December 31, 2008, the Company had a retail network of 434 stores comprising 104 superstores and 330 mini-marts, which were either directly owned or operated and managed through franchise agreements or management agreements by the Company, its associates and a jointly controlled entity. It had an aggregate saleable area of 451,524 square metres, excluding stores under associates and franchises. As at December 31, 2008, it operated and managed 96 directly-owned superstores, and 194 directly-owned and 96 franchised mini-marts, which were directly owned by the Company.
