UFC and mma is the death of professional wrestling.

Hahaha I didn't know WWE was publicly traded!!! Hilarious!!! Maybe I am out of touch - wrestling was REALLY cool when I was a kid - we were a much more naive generation and believed it was real - I'm not so sure kids these days buy it - not when they can watch the real think in UFC/MMA.
There are a lot of rednecks out there - the only question is, can they alone keep NASCAR AND WWE profitable???
I think not.
RED THUMB!

UFC has for a long time been increasing in popularity and continues to do all the right things to grow in fan base and support. I don't see that trend changing anytime and that makes it very difficult for WWE to grow.

Professional wrestling is dead. MMA is alive.

MMA (specifically UFC), a far more interesting (and realistic) entertainment venue will slowly strangle WWE profits to a long overdue demise. It will go the way of WCW.

Aging stars are aging, having to bring in 60 year old rick flair for a program while shawn michaels, HHH, and undertaker recover from injuries. New stars do not seem to shine and are not given the chance to shine. Randy orton is the only identifyable semi-star to the casual wrestling fan. Also the way everything is choreographed (judging from a recently leaked monday night raw script) stars do not have the opportunity to act out their true personalities as wrestlers have to say everything in their script to a tee (can you imagine if stone cold steve austin or other stars in the past who made the wwe what is it today had to operate this way??) The only thing the wwe has going for them is the younger audience who is to nieve to truely understand the wrestling businessa and will tune in reguardless of the quality of wrestling or storyline. Also TNA is starting to grab market share from these guys. If TNA gets its act together we could see another WCW type rise which is probably what the WWE needs at this point to spark a new found competitive sense in McMahon

This stock debuted in 1999 at $17 at 10 million shares. It's now at about 80 million shares at $16 nine years later. I like pro wrestling just as much as anybody, but does anybody realistically see serious growth potential in this stock?
I don't think the second coming of Hulk Hogan could excuse anybody buying WWE over any ETF. Watcha gonna do brotha, when this stock takes your portfolio down on you?
And its only a matter of time until the next pro wrestler takes the murder/suicide route...

An aging roster of superstars with very few younger guys that have real potential. No one cares about Randy Orton unless he has the title around his waist, and he's terrible on the mic. John Cena has solid mic skills but is limited in the ring. The roster has also been trimmed down so much that fans get to see the same matches over and over again.

Got to think this is overvalued...it's fake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Lacking dominant brand or excitement, facing competition both direct and indirect.

Revenues won't go up as long as their PPVs are overpriced and don't deliver.

The surge in popularity that WWE enjoyed when it went public was the result of a lot of factors, namely, the level of competition which allowed the company to become innovative and less stagnant. As the only formidable "sport entertainment" company in the United States, Vince McMahon does what he always does when he's without competition, and that is to rely on the same tired and aged antics that gave him success in previous years. The success of UFC as well as the age of their audience will only make WWE more irrelevant.

Lack of Superstars, an aging owner, and lots of controversy are slowing down the amount of money WWE will be bringing in.

I don't think the bad press will hurt them (any press is good press, right?) as much as the increasing amount of competition from the likes of UFC and other extreme fighting ventures. Pro wrestling became increasingly popular with the downfall of boxing, but now that void has been filled. The wrestling "industry" is a sinking ship.

The WWE has a lot of negative things coming up now that will really hurt their bottom line. A few wrestlers have died in the past year or so including this recent tragedy with Chris Benoit. It will really give a black eye to the company and most likely lead to pressure regarding steriod use. Even though the WWE says it is testing for steroids now the public will not believe that it is true. Second, the demand for such entertainment is a limited demographic which is now being split into other areas such as UFC and other shows revolved around fighting. Third, there is finally a rival again in the wrestling ring. TNA wrestling which is comprised of a lot of the former stars of WWE has started to gain fans and television ratings. As more and more wrestlers jump to TNA from the WWE TNA will keep gaining ground and the WWE will have to keep trying to find new talent. All of these factors together are a lot for Vince McMahon to overcome. Anyone who has paid attention to wrestling over the years knows that it's popularity goes in cycles and right now is a downturn for WWE.

the problems i see with this stock
are as follows
1 talent drain kurt angle left wwe to goto tna, they let Joey Mercury go
and it looks like Big Show is done
2 wwe needs to get out of the movie business
they spent millions of dollars in promoting the condemmed
starring scsa and in its debut week only grossed 4 million or so

As far as price goes, WWE will underperform. This stock doesn't move much, and in the past year, any true gains have dropped back again. I like this stock though for its dividend. Eventually, WWE's movie industry will knock something out of the park, but it remains to be seen if they can build on that once it happens.
