Wyeth (WYE)

CAPS Rating:
****

The Company is engaged in the discovery, development, manufacture, distribution and sale of a diversified line of products in three primary businesses: Pharmaceuticals, Consumer Healthcare and Animal Health.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other players to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

This is exactly the kind of thing I have red-thumbed in the past, only to find the stocks continue there upward climb, costing me points. I don't care. There is no reason in the world, that Wyeth should not be publicly called to task.

Some patents running out, but several products on the way. Wyeth is a solid, solid company. Good management and good people (regardless of what anyone says) who care about the company and its further expansion. I've been to the facility in Madison countless times, known the company since it's owned Chef Boyardee as American Home Products. Essner is good guy, not some greedy suit. I've been to the Animal Facility in Fort Dodge, clean as a whistle. Don't be deterred. WYE has a foundation solid as a rock. It's 44.11 as I write this. I assume it will keep fluctuating for a while, but I'm telling you, Wyeth is going to break its resistance ceiling soon. Wouldn't dawdle.

The looming recession that bernanke and the whole federal reserve gang have set this country towards will send alot of investors into the pharmaceutical's sector--being the traditional recessionary savior to say the least. Plus, most pharmaceutical stocks have been beaten down this past winter, and I see a reversal across the entire sector. Also, those companies already on a run will continue due to the upward momentum this summer from key reversals and upgrades throughout the sector.

They already are a monster player in the pharmaceuticals. Next big jump is going to be in animal health--we take better care of our pets than we do ourselves!!

Animal health may be the big driver here as people become more attached to their pets and are will to spend more to keep them healthy. Some insurance companies are already covering pets for auto injuries in an effort to court these animal lovers. Animal testing can actually have benefits for the animals!
