I was bullish on coking coal, and so far, very wrong. Steel demand, however, has increased quite significantly. If coal prices continue to remain this cheap then steel makers will have huge leverage with input costs steady, and output prices rising.

Moving up off the bottom of its cyclical trough. I expect it to run higher for the next few years and get close to its cyclical peak by about 2016 or so. Longer Term Price Target ~$50.

I notice the construction season is in full swing. Steel is one product that construction uses a lot.

I think we'll see a civic construction boom in Obama's second term that will need a lot of steel, preferably from the U.S.A.

Steel companies in the U.S. in particular are making a comeback after being annihilated. International players like MT are still in free-fall over the European debt crisis. However, U.S. is breaking out of the bottom of it's October price. As far as I know, though i haven't researched it too carefully, we will still use the steel to construct buildings until some time into the science fiction future :P
