This puppy may still have further to fall, even though it's P/E is a big buy. People are cycling out of steel right now, so some more downside, but long term profit potential.

1st, go look at the historical performance (5yr/ 10yr) of this stock...

now-
huge run to $180 was FOLLOWED by RECORD earnings for 2Q 08

sell off to ~$130 makes a nice entry point for the long term investor.
(in real life i bought at $134, waiting to see if the rising dollar pushes deeper into the $120s but i am going in bigger in my IRA sometime this fall)

The rest of the world is catching up with the US.

Part of catching up is building basic infrastructure.

Who needs infrastructure - China, India, Russia, Brazil...etc

What do you need to build infrasture - Steel, Steel, Steel

The technicals look bad. The fundamentals tell me that this is a bubble. We get a mild head cold and the rest of the planet gets a bad case of the flu. With the sub-prime mess effectively wiping out much of the middle class equity; how are consumers going to buy products without 2nd mortgage money?

The steel industry is taking a pause but should rebound in the 2nd half. I believe this stock may be oversold at this point.

A well managed company that continues to reinvest in itself for the long term. Short term mentality has retired.

India and other companies are showing sign of an aproaching recession which means steel and steel products will not be as high of a demand.
