Energy company in the midwest where labor costs are low and energy demands are high. Company has stronger leadership than most energy companies and is using its resources well.

Xcel Energy has a large dividend, low to moderate P/E, and a captive audience that has to give them money every single month. While NSP Minnesota is terrible at keeping the power on (they used to be anyway), for the most part here in Colorado they do a good job of getting things fixed if something goes wrong. Not to mention, they have their name on the nicest sports facility in the USA, the Xcel Center in St. Paul, home to the Minnesota Wild. That in itself makes me want to buy stock.
