Solar, and particularly Chinese Solar, stocks were hot in 2007. I am not ready to give up on these stocks for '08 because I don't see any decrease or slowing in the trend toward Green products and technology.
Plus, some of these stocks have been hit particularly hard in this latest slash and burn market correction and are thus more reasonably priced at this time.

Co is a leader in the photo voltaic cell manufacture, in a fast growth industry in a key sector (alternative energy).
They have secured silicon supply for the next couple of years, key for a co to keep growing in this field. China based, access to key technical / material resurces and plenty of demand now and in the future.

At the bottom of the bear market in October 1974 a Forbes article interviewed Buffett. Buffett, for the first time in his life, made public prediction about the stock market.

"How do you feel? Forbes asked.

"Like an oversexed guy in a whorehouse. Now is the time to invest and get rich."

The manufacturing process and technology developed by Nanosolar will revolutionize the industry, and PV manufacturers like this one will either adapt or suffer the consequences. Nanosolar has finally placed solar power on a competitive plain with coal from a price perspective.

I ONCE ACTUALLY OWNED THIS STOCK BUT THE REASON THAT I NOW FEEL A LITTLE UNCERTAIN IS THE RISING COST OF POLYSILICON. ALSO THERE IS MORE COMPETITION IN THIS AREA. AND FINALLY THE UNCERTAINIY OF CHINA'S GOV. AND THE PROTECTION OF THIER PRODIGAL SUN LDK.

YGE IPOed this year, and has a yahoo target of $194.

PE of 130 according to Yahoo, but 638 here, makes it sound really risky, but i think i will bet on the price target. If it reaches it it would be worth 4 times todays price.

rated 4 an caps and 7 on msn.

YGE, a Chinese solar cell and related technology stock, is offered by a high quality company which is in control of production of their product from the raw materials end to the final product. Their product line includes a wide range of photovolaic cell types from miniature ones to large commercial applications. I bought it Sept 24, 2007 at $26.28. It advanced 21.2% even with the market downturn. This is a product that is needed all over Asia and middle Europe, especially since many thousands of rural communities depend greatly on wireless energy resources. It wins on energy cost savings, it is greener than dams and coal. I think it has great growth potential for short haul and future. It was just recently(by the way, a month after I purchased it!!) recommended by Motley and by Cramer. What's not to love?
