took a dump recently, but seems to have good potential. somewhat risky pick, but getting in low could see a nice turnaround.

*ZL is in the black for the first time since 2000. Earnings have improved every year since 2001, regardless of the revenue trend.

*Balance sheet looks sturdy, no LT debt, total assets/total liabilities = ~4, cash/total liabilities ~2, current ratio ~6.3, and all of these have been improving. In other words, they're not likely to go under any time soon unless something unseemly happens.

*Risk is high, but due mainly to the cheap price of the stock and the potential slowdown in the semi market and not it's underlying fundamentals.

*4Q guidance is even to -0.01 on 32M-34M, slightly lower than analysts were expecting when it was announced Friday. Stock performance since the announcement indicates that the market didn't think the report was particularly foreboding.

*Current estimates are 0.09 for 2007 and 0.11 for 2008, with a projected forward PE of 23 and 18, respectively.

*Technically, ZL is in a short-term (2-week) downtrend. $2 support has held strong since June '06. Long-term the stock, as well as the semi industry, may be bottoming. Low since tech crash was ~1.25 in mid '05.

*I like CAMD and GND.C as well, but neither look quite as juicy as ZL value-wise, and since I'm speculating I'll avoid the dividend stock (GND.C).
