Zoltec has a virtual monopoly on the production of this type of carbon fibers. Now used in wind turbine blade reinforcement and aircraft brakes, the company is beginning to make inroads into the automotive industry. If used as concrete reinforcing the amount of concrete required in a project could be cut to a fraction of present requirements. The carbon fiber reinforcement would be stronger and would not be subject to the deterioration that affects steel rebars.
With all existing lines in full production 2007 should be a banner year for Zoltec. The market for carbon fibers should explode if the company can ramp production up enough to satisfy even a fraction of the construction market.

Zoltek is a key player the rapidly expanding carbon fiber market - huge potential. They just need to start making more money and work out their plant capacity and operational issues. Carbon fiber is everywhere - cars, boats, planes, sports equip, bicycles, infrastructure, etc.

It has the capacity to sell all the graphite reinforced material that it can make. It has new capacity coming on line. It is keeping the price and profits low which discourages new companies coming into the market and increases demand for the product which should lead to increasing economies of scale.
