While recently debating the viability of Coinstar as a long-term option a thought occured to me. Even though the sales of DVD's are down, Blu-Ray sales are continuing to grow. This is significant because you cannot stream blu-ray. So even the DVD sales might be down, blu-ray players and sales continue to grow. A bit of a comfort for Coinstar and the kiosks. Looking at Coinstars 4th quarter earnings this is evident as blu-ray sales doubled. Just a quick late night thought-more on this later. [more]

I love listening to Panodra (Nasdaq: P), Today's Country Radio is my jam and I have logged countless hours listening to it. The bigger question is will the company succeed? Personally I can't see it happening along with the CAPS community who has given it a paltry one star rating. Here are my 3 biggest reasons why. [more]

Starbucks (Nasdaq: SBUX) had an up ($62.00) and down ($43.04) year but currently resides in the higher end of that range. Today Zipcar was bought out by Avis rocketing the share price to $12.20, as a shareowner I for one am pretty estatic. You always dream of owning a stock that gets bought out, and to own one is pretty special. I think Avis felt it was a great time to buy and wanted to make sure Zipcar didn't experience any more positive pops before taking over. [more]

Redbox (a subsidary of Coinstar (CSTR)) recently announced that they will be coming out with a Disc + Digital Service with Verizon called Redbox Instant. $8 a month gets customers unlimited streaming of movies through EPIX and 4 rentals at Redbox Kiosks, I find the connection with EPIX to be very attractive as that connects them to Paramont Pictures and Lionsgate (Mission Impossible, Hunger Games) Redbox will be able to have these titles available 90 days after release. Also Redbox Instant will also be offering electronic sell-through (EST) and video-on-demand (VOD) through video agreements with major studios. [more]
