On TMF boards and articles, over the past years, there have been mentions of market-badness-20%-haircut events.  I have been emotionally prepared for that to happen (which is not to say financially prepared-large cash position would have been nice) and when the 20 % haircut happened, I thought "not so bad, I can take it".  Didn't even flinch..........Now, the haircut is more like 40% and I am grimacing.  OUCH!  There, it feels better to say it.  I am still convinced that I own appropriate amounts of strong companies that I am comfortable holding.  I believe that I'm OK for the long-term.  One thing that has changed, however, is my definition of long-term.  Three months ago, I would have defined long-term as being considerably ahead in a year or two.  Right now, I just don't know.  Could turn around in a few months or a year, or could be just the beginning of a long bad spell.  I am nowhere close to panic selling.  [more]
