A horrible accident at their Coffeen, IL power plant in 2003 in which Ameren was negligent three times over and that resulted in the death of a 29 yr old contracted commercial diver and father was settled this year for millions. Clearly, the company is cutting costs even if it means their employees...More

Recs 0 (AEE) thinkahead (< 20) Submitted: 6/28/08 7:02 PM : Start Price: $41.34 AEE Score: 2.81 This utility stock has plummeted sharply in early '08 due to selling off portions of the company and other reasons. At today's price of $41.96, it has lost 25% since last Dec. and is a bargain. In the past it was a very stable stock and should turn around soon once the '08 Midwest flooding has subsided (don't buy it until they have cleaned up the mess first).
