There is a lot of speculation Boeing won't do well because airlines won't be able to afford the new jumbos they had on order. Maybe so, but commercial aircraft are only one segment of Boeing's business, and the cost of oil will eventually force every carrier to switch to more efficient planes. Tod...More

For now, Boeing is struggling. Wait until the dollar stabilizes, and foreign orders will start flooding in. They lost the Airbus deal and I don't see that turning around.

How the contract vote works Machinists union members in Washington, Oregon and Kansas will receive two ballots — blue and red — when they vote today on Boeing's contract offer. Blue: A vote on the contract proposal. It takes 50 percent of the members voting to approve the contract. Red: A vote on whether to strike if the contract is rejected. Approving a strike takes a two-thirds vote. Anything shy of that and the contract offer takes effect. History: Machinists voted to strike in 2005, leading to a one-month walkout.
