High valuation relative to its historical norms, lack of margin levers, limited sq footage growth and significant reliance on other manufacturers products will lead to underperformance in '07 for BKE.

this conservative pick in the specialty retail industry is a strong buy (LN). buy at 48.84 and check in 12-18 months.

This company is terrific. I have been watching it rise steadily without hesitation since April, and I am unhappy that I didn't buy in then. Their clothing lines (BKE particularly, a private label for Buckle) are very fashion forward and not too trendy (sorry, no Ed hardy $300 t-shirts here). They offer an escape from the Gap and Banana Republic for young men, and women, without having to fork over the cash they would have to at places like Nordstrom (where the over-priced Rail department offers very little variety). I see the Buckle to continue being very successful over the next year, and imagine they will start growing the business in new ways with the increased market cap and cash flow.

E2008-08-21 10:30am Great store, fast growth, stylish and trendy. They better not disappoint with earnings. Sales up about 20%. But does it translate to the bottom line? Are they cutting prices to move merchandise in this economy? Are material costs up. Sales up. Ok. But what about the bottom line? P/E is jazzed for a good quarter. Are they going to do it? Nah, to risky for a thumb up.
