Recs 0 (CAB) Somewhere (52.37) Submitted: 7/17/08 10:08 PM : Start Price: $10.03 CAB Score: 11.86 The stock has been absolutely slaughtered, and I can't figure out why. I worried that they were expanding their stores too quickly and picking up too much debt to expand, but they've now slowed down their expansion removing the single biggest worry I had. Despite the tough economy, the company is still making a good hunk of change, and if a company can weather tough times so well, I'm looking very forward to seeing how well they do when the good times return! The new stores are big and very expensive as the stores are designed like a museum to attract customers. This is a good marketing tool in my opinion, but Cabela's could have made their stores smaller, hence, to open more stores to penetrate the specialty market better. I believe Cabela's has growth potential in the future if they would scale down their store size and continue to open new stores in the right designations. I think hunting and fishing is a passion that I believe people will spend their disposable income regardless of the market, but to the extent to pay for the recent new stores may be a near term problem. I don't actually think this store will hurt with the economy as much as people think. With the economy suffering people are going to spend less money on vacation and more money on things they can do in an immediate location. Cabela's provides just those things.
