Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

I checked data at Morningstar. Dividend yield is 19.6%, but trailing P/E is only 13.6 (earnings yield of 7.35%). These values are inconsistent. ROA has decreased monotonically since 2003, and for calendar 2007 was only 1.06%. The report at http://www.fool.com/investing/value/2008/03/10/5-top-rat...More

The Co credit metrics appear to be improving based on details provided in the most recent earning release. The strength of the business plan in the immediate future should be enhanced by ongoing efforts of combining the commercial lending franchise with the new depository realised through the creation of a new California Banking entity. Co CFO stated, "The performance of our core commercial finance business improved this quarter with increased loan yield relative to our benchmark of 30-day LIBOR, lower operating expenses as a percentage of assets, and increased Adjusted Return on Equity at 23.9%. Adjusted Earnings on a consolidated basis were negatively impacted by the sale of Agency securities in our residential mortgage investment portfolio." It appears that the Co has manuvered through Mortgage based securities crisis through true ingenuity, a trait that could certainly reward shareholders in future qtrs.

I have been doing research and I will have to eat my previous words. This company is doing better than most in the same category and for now the dividends are nice . I did say "for now" because they may cut dividends to retain Capital.

I have been using the "Double Down" strategy (suggested by the automated advisor from my brokerage) for these deep losing positions to take advantage of tax losses and still preserve my positions for future dividend and market appreciation.

Is anyone else using this approach?
