Citrix Systems, Inc. (CTXS)

CAPS Rating:
****

The Company designs, develops and markets technology solutions that allows applications to be delivered, supported and shared on-demand with performance, enhanced security and improved total cost of ownership.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

Citrix has mainframe/desktop communications applications that are currently being integrated all over the country with the growth of electronic medical records (EMR). Look for continued growth with these systems over the next 10 years.

Citrix has always been an expensive stock to own. When the dust clears on Virtualization look to Citrix to chomp up the failed installations of virtual servers. They do have the knowledge of running many instances of products on the server side and experience curve is paramount in this space. My only question on this is their pricing model. It is a little premium and reach could be faster if they adopted a lower cost-per seat model.

Citrix bought Xensource and that is when I bought Citrix. Xen is my favorite datacenter virtualization software and Xensource makes what I find to be the best tools for Xen. I think Citrix will be an attractive acquisition to fight over for a couple of large caps that are always in the news - now that they have Xensource. My company immediately bought up enterprise licenses and that is something we do very rarely. That is how good it is. And I say that having used several competitors including VMWare which is a fine product but didn't suit our needs in a "no brainer - get it now!" way like Xensource's version of Xen.

Well managed, well financed and great potential. Also, management re-purchased stocks around $32 average price last qtr. Can some please say "confidence"?.
