WisdomTree Total Dividend Fund (ETF) (DTD)

CAPS Rating:
****

Closed-end fund

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

What is this ? Do you know Jeremy Siegel ?

This is a form of indexing that has beaten the market in the last 100 years. Stocks with low P/Es and high dividends that are reinvested. Growth stocks with high PE's are out. In the long run this will always beat the market by a couple points per year.

Dividend-paying stocks, like value stocks, have had a great run since the "growth crash" started in 2000. But any rally that goes too long becomes a bubble, and every bubble ends with a "pop." What makes it worse in this case is that (1) several dividend-seeking ETFs like this one have allowed investors to further inflate prices and reduce yields of these stocks, and (2) corporations have reduced their dividend payments in favor of buybacks, making the old-fashioned high-yield stock an endangered species.

I'm placing my bets on a dividend crash.

This has been in my real world portfolio for about 5 months, I'm adding it as a CAPS today because I like the top 10 holdings by percent and I have a great feeling that with div's added to the score this is a definate long term outperform v. the s&p.

From finance.yahoo.com
"The investment seeks to track the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of the WisdomTree Dividend index. The fund employs a passive management (or indexing) investment approach designed to track the performance of the WisdomTree Dividend index. It attempts to invest all, or substantially all, of assets in the stocks that make up the index. The fund generally uses a representative sampling strategy to achieve its investment objective. It is nondiversified."
