Haemonetics Corp (HAE)

CAPS Rating:
*****

Designs, manufactures and markets automated systems for the collection, processing and surgical salvage of donor and patient blood, including the single-use disposables used with its systems and related information services and data management software.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other players to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

Steady growth with sales, assets outweigh debt, 10 profitable years, debt definately needs to come down but with the right management this company will continue to do good.

I really don't like the growing net receivables here. . cash flows look ok for now. they have been growing revenue, and most other indicators look good. I'm going out on a limb and predicting that this one can out perform in the next few months but further out ,they will need to pare down the debt a little and the net receivables as well.

We are always in need of blood and with the baby boomer population reaching an age where they can no longer give blood, and actually need the blood, companies with technologies like Haemonetics are going to be in even more demand as they can help increase the amount of useful blood from each donation. More and more surgeries are requiring transfusions so their patented technology for taking blood from a patient during surgery, cleaning it, and then putting it back into the person is quite revolutionary and can help save lives during surgical procedures. Financially, they have little debt and approximately $8 of cash per share. Plus, their products are always in demand so this company should perform well in any type of economy (hence the low .38 beta).
