CAPS Rating:
***

A developer, manufacturer and marketer of research tools in reagent, kit and high-throughput applications forms to customers engaged in life sciences research, drug discovery, diagnostics and the commercial manufacture of biological products.

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other players to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Did you hear that loud groan from shareholders today? "Oh No, not another acquisition!" Just as shareholders were getting warm and fuzzy about margins, growth, and management effectivenss, here comes another acquisition.

The shorts (10%+) also groaned today, but for different reasons. Trading was really weird today! Did you watch the "tape"? (Tape? Wow, pennysplants must be as old as she infers she is!!!) 10-12X average volume.

It will take some days/weeks/months to shake out. But, long term, I think the acquisition of Applied Biosystems was VERY wise. In a merger of this kind, there are bound to be shannigans played by one and all. For example, "how low can we get IVGN stock to advantage AB stockholders"? Yep, I hate this part of these deals. It encourages manipulation.

But, never fear pick and shovel investors. IVGN will shine (IMHO) long term. This is the space. This is the time.

PS, I really DO like soil under my fingernails. And I know how to wield a pick ... and a shovel. Ever use the SIDE of a shovel? It's a thing of wonder. Gravel / dirt / sand. You have complete control. And all without having to lug an extra tool around.

Taking a flyer on momentum in a down market. Keeping the parachute close at hand. Will let the winners run and cut the losers at a reasonable altitude. Just my opinion but then its,
