KBR, Inc. (KBR)

CAPS Rating:
****

A global engineering, construction and services company supporting the energy, petrochemicals, government services and civil infrastructure sectors.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

Sun is setting on this company already. Wasteful government contractor-ask anyone whose been to Iraq-Stock may do well for a bit but it will tank especially when the Congress starts investigating.

Obama is all but assured to win in November, and that means both a draw down in foriegn occupancy and certainly a drawdown in private contracting in foriegn policy.

These guys are still working out from the shadow of HAL. All of their peers (FLR, CBI, SGR, MDR) are blowing the market away in this market. They will be catching up as the year goes on.

KBR has good earnings and revenue growth, and the addition of BE&K should increase the latter. KBR's market value is backed by about 40% cash and no debt - a good characteristic in a recently choppy market. This company makes its money primarily from government (foriegn and domestic) tax revenues, which lag the economy - not from consumer spending. They just had an excellent quarter.
