News Corp (NWS)

CAPS Rating:
***

An entertainment company with operations in eight industry segments, including Filmed Entertainment, Television, Cable Network Programming, Direct Broadcast Satellite Television, Magazines and Inserts, Newspapers, Book Publishing and Other.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other players to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

Mainstream Media giant struggles to adapt to changing public sentiment. The Ron Paul Revolution is endearing to millions of liberty-minded individuals that are fed up with the authoritarian/fascist neoconservative movement. Hulu.com. Full episodes of many great shows and movies for free on demand. This is the future of television, and it is owned by News Corp and NBC Universal.

I don't know if I feel morally responsible putting real money to work in News Corp (see the documentary OutFoxed). Murdoch wants to spread his conservative ideologies (political and financial) and if he takes stronghold of government and consolidates media with his media powerhouse, we will be doomed (unless his ideologies change).

However, for profit, this company owns MySpace, Fox, Wall Street Journal to rake in that corporate advertising money.

while I'm opposed to large corporations owning things that used to be just fun.... like certain websites... i might as well make some money on their unstoppable efforts so that I can afford to pay for my right to access share and recieve knowledge that would outherwise be freely traded....

Newscorp is set to buy newsday. THe FCC will hand out the waiver tha most think is needed for this buy. This should yet again increase news corps worth in the long run.
