Royal Gold, Inc. (RGLD)

CAPS Rating:
***

The Company, together with its subsidiaries, is engaged in the business of acquiring and managing precious metals royalties.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

5% projected earnings growth 3-5 years, yet priced as if it was to grow 41% annually during that period.

Gold - 22% down from it's high-water mark, so RGLD picks up some value there to those bullish on the price of gold.

Give people a reason to sell this stock, and I believe they'll take it.

With the world economy in shambles and the value of the dollar in question, people are turning to gold. RGLD is just about to break out from cup-with-handle pattern.

Gold in and of itself will not be the magic elixir for this economy, but, the management of the assets achieved by gold investment is a safe play until this all gets steamrolled out. It will get there even if we have to go to Social Security Number 2.

They could call it REALLY social security - since the first s/s is already spent. :)
