The Talbots, Inc. (TLB)

CAPS Rating:
*

The Company, together with its wholly owned subsidiaries, is an international specialty retailer and cataloger of women's, children's, and men's apparel, accessories and shoes.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other players to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

2. Debt!!! Cash on hand will cover just about 2 quarters of debt service, assuming break even operations.
3. No more new debt to finance to finance prior debt!!!

I have decided for the next serveral weeks to change my investment strategy to be short stocks trading between $1.50 and below $10 with a market cap of more than $100 million. My goal is to acheive at least a 60% sucess rate of beating the S&P Index. I am looking for 30% of my picks beating the S&P Index by more than 5% with an average per pick of at least 1.50. I am only looking to hold these positions for approximately 10-15 days.

All the picks that I select are from screening criteria that I have developed using software from Vectorvest. I find it to be a good screening tool. For game playing purposes, since I always try to have 200 picks going at once, it's a shot gun approach with only short term trading in mind.

4. Worst segment of the retail apparel market to be in when the economy sours, since moms are the first ones to do without.

Conclusion: heading to a bankruptcy court near you.

I don't try to be a dower but this stock seems to have to where to go but down. I don't like it and I don't think we need it. It has a chance but its in a tuff market no one wants nothing that is not name brand anymore. Now I personally have never used its products I just don’t like this kind of market it is up today but it has fell so much it is really going to have to pull something out to regain its losses. 52 week range is $6-$26 and I’m sorry for the people who bought at $26 because that money is gone take what is left and put it into CLR or SIRI.
