CAPS Rating:
*

A renewable energy company focused on alternate energy products and technologies as well as producing ethanol and other co-products.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

Believe the end is probably near for this company. Shady dealings with equity partners---will take advantage as a short opp.

Plenty has been written about this company: it came straight out of a boiler room (see the cast of characters), burns cash faster than biomass (>10mio p.a.), and will be condemned to the pink sheets very shortly. Yet it still has enough cash (>35mio) to burn for another 3 years: there lies the only hope for its patient shareholders, though management and products are unproven, and one has to wonder what how they operate this company with 27 staff, including a headquarter office in New York (biomass from Central Park will not suffice...).

Hehe, I was right on time for this lagguard.

This is just a funny ethanol company.

Following activist short sellers can be especially profitable if you only need to underperform the market.

What's this? Another over-hyped ethanol company with raising revenue and rapidly decreasing net income? With the company and its insiders selling shares? And borrowing money to stay alive? Good grief, there are times when you simply have to wonder how in the world people see promise in such a company. Will the semi-unique name keep the company in business? Unfortunately, it won't. XNL has nothing going for it, short or long-term. Eventually, the market, investors, and traders will realize what a mistake it made by actually believing something like ethanol could actually put that big of a dent into our fuel problem. Corn was one of the few crops to do okay this year. Just imagine what would happen if corn did not-so-well next year. The farmers who have put millions of dollars into corn, the investors who have poured billions into 'corn ethanol', and the politicians who used it as a way to get elected and popular will all be hurt tremendously. Corn ethanol is being treated and invested in as if it is the way to solve our oil problems, even though 90% of it is used for cattle feed, it costs a lot of money to harvest it (and uses a lot of gas in the process), and is a very inefficient process. Does it really matter if Bill Gates is invested in corn ethanol? Oh wow, if it's okay for Gates, it's gotta be good! Look at the facts, not the hype. If you ask me, it's not that great of an idea to plant a helluva lot of corn, inefficiently process it, and find yourself with a small amount
