Recs 0 (HBC) uclayoda87 (99.77) Submitted: 11/16/08 2:05 PM : Start Price: $52.28 HBC Score: -1.73 WSJ article on Nov 11, 2008 noted that US consumers were falling behind on loan repayments for HELOC and credit cards. Total behind was 4.3 B and 0.7B for the 3rd quarter. This appears to be near the beginning and not the end of the personal credit problem. Companies holding this debt and many of the small retailers relying on credit card purchases are likely to be in big trouble for the next 2 to 4 years. Another interesting tidbit relating to the injection of cash by the UK government to stimulate lending between banks: HSBC UK did not need to use any of the money.
