HDFC Bank Limited (ADR) (HDB)

CAPS Rating:
***

A private sector bank and financial services company in India with three principal business activities: retail banking, wholesale banking and treasury operations.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

Indian banks were never really affected by the financial meltdown. Because of their cash at hand the are better placed for exponential growth going forward. HDFC Bank is probably one of the best managed banks in India. It is growth will only be on overdrive going foward.

FIRE dependent picks

FIRE sector of economy (FIRE = Financial, Insurance & Real Estate).

bullish uaua, bdn, fmd, nhi, hov, ibn, bbd, bma, itu, wbk, nabzy.pk,yavy, pmbc

bearish dhi, cal, joe, psa, wabc, hcbk, bari, std, hdb, bma, bpop

We have seen massive volatility within worldwide FIRE stocks. The picks I am bearish on (red thumbed) read the following as total opposite:
Stocks I am now bullish on here may offer great future dividend potential, great valuation to earning potential, and is a great pick within its respective sector.

These are companies I'd put my money into right now rather than into residential real estate, apartment buildings, other stocks, commodities, or bonds. Few may fail, but just as many will quadruple within the next decade.

Again, if this was a red thumb, sell the stock.

These picks are within this CAPs account that is market neutral - all longs are offset by a short. All long & short picks are diversified across industries & world location to limit downside exposure. This CAPS account will maintain at the very least 20 picks and at the very most 80 picks. Picks will be ended in long/short pairs to remain neutral.
