Recs
Pop quiz. What are the two worst sectors to be in in 2008? Financials and real estate. BRT's only business is both. As a short-term lender for commercial real estate, the company is getting hammered by market forces of the worst kind: no activitity to generate lending fees and added costs for foreclosing on the properties on which it made loans. BRT will recover as the real estate and commercial lending markets recover, but it will take years. Unless you are bottom fishing, stay away.

Recs
- Great dividends
- Weathered the FannieMae FreddieMac storm quite well
- Knows how to run/hold properties, even in the case of foreclosure (like we just saw)
- Did I mention the dividends?
- At a bargain basement price
