Reasonable valuation with upside potential given the company's portfolio shifting to the cloud.

The company is an international cloud computing firm serving businesses across the U.S., Europe and Asia.
Cloudera has an enterprise platform that is essentially built to allow businesses to not only store and manage their own data, but also have access to a large amount of publicly available data.

This public data can come from many different sources including government research and demographic information.
Of course integrating this information and offering it to clients puts CLDR a step ahead of many competitors.

Ultimately, CLDR's services are helping companies to make big advances in areas such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and augmented reality. All of these processes will be a big part of improving our quality of life in the future.

To say that CLDR is on the cutting edge of the cloud computing frontier would be an understatement. And this advanced tech approach is exactly what makes CLDR so attractive to larger blue-chip tech companies.

For more than a year now, there have been rumors that "Big Blue" — or IBM — is trying to negotiate a buyout of CLDR.
That would make sense, given the fact that CLDR has now built a respected and well-established niche in the cloud computing business… and given the fact that CLDR will transition to becoming a profitable company this year.

A big tech company like IBM would naturally benefit from owning CLDR. This type of buyout would give IBM access to all of CLDR's current customers and allow IBM to sell consulting services to a wider group of companies.
A buyout would also give IBM more tools to offer customers who could benefit from machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions.

Of course, the same argument could be made for (AMZN) buying CLDR to augment its Amazon Web Services (or AWS) cloud platform. Even Apple Inc. (AAPL) could be a potential buyer in an attempt to spend its giant cash hoard on a solution that would allow AAPL to better serve corporate customers.

The question is which big tech company will pull the trigger and make an offer for CLDR. It may turn out to be more than one.

Target price for this buyout is $22 — where the stock was trading shortly after it came public.

This would be a logical price to make current CLDR investors happy, but still leave room for a buyer like IBM to profit from the merger. And with a target price about 73% above the current level for shares of CLDR, there's plenty of room for you to profit.
