DHR is one of these low volatility jewels out there. Its core business basically is buying businesses or core departments in the medical device/healthcare industry and integrating various lean process optimizations. This concept knows no real boundaries in my opinion as even in bad times they simply pick top performers cheaper and increase their returns. (A bit like we should behave in times of many shaky hands by the way.)
The recent purchase of the GE Biopharma section and the spin-off of their dental sector seems to be a brilliant move. (The only time in a long period at which I saw two stock the acquirer and the acquired pop about 5%)
