HP will be doing well over the next 5 years.

Buffett likes it because it's buying back stock and increasing dividend payouts. That's the thesis here. It assume that HP can maintain its market share in computers and printers, which I find reasonable. As long as that's the case, profits should continue, and management should continue to use profits to increase shareholder value. Now seems like an opportune moment to buy, given the valuation.
I could see this underperforming for 2-3 years though, because the compounding effect of buybacks and dividends sometimes takes time to become manifest. But the longer one holds, the better the odds of beating the market, IMO

Getting its moment in the limelight due to Berkshire investment, but every stock has a role to play. HPQ with its stellar free cash flow generation and modest valuation offers deep value. I doubt this equity will outperform the S&P 500 over the next five years.
