One thing to consider: Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa with about 191 million people as of 2017. By 2030 Nigeria's population is projected to grow to 263 million people. By 2050 Nigeria's population is projected to grow to over 402… More

Stock down almost 90% from highs. Revenues and customers increasing in mid double digits percentage gains. Jumia Pay usage up 200+% YOY. Long-term growth looks good. Market cap less than 500M.

One thing to consider: Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa with about 191 million people as of 2017. By 2030 Nigeria's population is projected to grow to 263 million people. By 2050 Nigeria's population is projected to grow to over 402 million people, surpassing the United States as the third most populous country in the world.

A second thing to consider: Kenya is the seventh most populous country in Africa with about 50 million people as of 2017. By 2030 Kenya’s population is projected to grow to about 66 million people. By 2050 Kenya’s population is projected to grow to over 95 million people, far surpassing the current and projected population of Germany (the most populous country in the European Union).

Another thing to consider: Algeria is the ninth most populous country in Africa with about 41 million people as of 2017. By 2030 Algeria population is projected to grow to about 48 million people. By 2050 Algeria’s population is projected to grow to over 56 million people, matching the projected declining population of Italy by 2050.

Something else to consider: Senegal is the twenty-fourth most populous country in Africa with about 16 million people as of 2017. By 2030 Senegal population is projected to grow to about 23 million people. By 2050 Kenya’s population is projected to grow to over 36 million people. That would be comparable to the current population of Pennsylvania growing to the current population of California (give or take a few million people).

A final thing to consider: Egypt is the third most populous country in Africa with about 97 million people as of 2017. By 2030 Kenya’s population is projected to grow to about 117 million people. By 2050 Kenya’s population is projected to grow to over 151 million people, far surpassing the projected population of the Russian Federation.

A conclusion to consider: These five countries listed above are just a small sampling of the countries currently served by Jumia Technologies. Similar population growth trends are present throughout the entirety of the African continent. The African continent has a population of about 1.24 billion people as of 2017. By 2030 the African continent’s population is projected to grow to about 1.68 billion people. By 2050 the African continent’s population is projected to grow to over 2.47 billion people, accounting for more than half of the world’s population growth.

Do you remember when Americans were once hesitant to provide their credit card numbers in order to shop online. That's where Africa is right now--an exciting moment in their adoption of e-commerce. The Amazon/MercadoLibre/JD story will play out in Africa the way it has played out in the U.S., Latin America, and China and while it's still very, very early days, investors who get on board now, hold, and continue to add to their positions could do very well. One day in our lifetimes, Jumia may join the above list. I really think it has a chance. I'm looking forward to watching this business and comparing it to those models while learning about Africa. Outperform.
