Well, it is the best house in what I think is a shaky neighborhood. I do not want to own any of these miners... sell, sell, sell! I have said over and over again that they're too dangerous. We learned our lesson from Agnico and from Goldcorp.

With heavy silver focus, will benefit from a rise in silver prices -- something that the historically wide gold/silver spread suggests could be imminent.

Our investment in PAAS has missed all quantitative performance targets. We also believe management has not been the best steward of shareholder capital over the period. In our assessment management overpaid for Minefinders, and has a track record of historically overpaying to repurchase capital stock.

Pan American Silver has weathered a very difficult period for miners, globally. The firm boasts a solid balance sheet that allowed it to withstand three years of negative earnings.

Even with some poor management decisions, and industry headwinds, we are optimistic about the firms capability to produce good long term results. Since 2012 management has lowered the all-in sustaining costs per silver ounce sold from $22.26 to $10.17. This is resulting in expanded margins, which will expand further during periods of higher silver prices. We are also optimistic about the La Colorada and Dolores mine expansions. Both expansions will significantly add silver production capacity. The need to allocate project capital for expansion will be reduced by 2018, which should increase free cash flow.

With substantially improved margins coupled, increased production capacity, and major capital investment projects mostly paid for, we believe Pan American Silver is well positioned.

IF silver has bottomed, then the upside potential for the share price by itself is easily a multi-bagger. Combine that potential share price increase with the current 5% dividend yield and you have a stock that isn't just a trade, but a strong long term hold. The big unknown is whether or not gold and silver spot price will go down with the stock market in the next crash. If that is the case, then buying PAAS now for long term gains won't matter. In the 2008 market crash gold and silver both crashed along with the stock market, of course they ended up rebounding with the stock market too to reach new all time highs, except the stock market continued to rally while gold and silver topped out and crashed to where we are now. The question is with gold and silver still trading at multi-year lows, will gold and silver still crash along with the next market crash? If the metals do crash along with the stock market, then the miners will crash as well along with oil and everything else. I just don't see commodities sustaining those kinds of prices for long, especially with the government wanting to create inflation and wanting wages to go up. I think the government is fine with a temporary crash in oil as it will encourage consumers to spend and make it appear as if our economy is stronger than it really is. I see reality setting in and prices for commodities going up along with inflation. I just don't know if we've seen the final bottom yet due to uncertainty how commodities will react when the next market crash comes.
