T-Mobile has strong management and has been disruptive in its space. It will face bumps with the Spring merger possibility, but it should grow in the long-term.

Paired bet: long T-Mobile, short AT&T. Not sure about Verizon, so I'll save that bet for later.

Rationale: AT&T is overspending on M&A, risky debt load and pension obligations. Very sensitive if interest rates rise. Don't provide a great value (compared to T-Mobile). I don't believe their various parts (wireline, wireless, fiber/tv, media production) have any real synergy (compared to disney or comcast, where it does). T-Mobile threatens AT&T and Verizon from lower prices, great customer service, and opportunity to eventually increase prices and profits if Sprint acquisition gives them network coverage/quality closer to AT&T & Verizon.

Risk to my short: T-Mobile has high debt (so sensitive to interest), and their current brand/price advantage might not pay off well enough if they can't improve their network quality to get closer to AT&T/Verizon, or management doesn't continue to beat the competitors in brand/marketing.

Banking on the fact that the Sprint merger goes through, that is all.
