I don't feel like writing a long pitch. I used to write many of them, but just haven't been into writing long, analytical pitches for awhile. I'm kind of out of practice. TSN failed to impress me the last time I looked at it years ago. But things… More

I like chicken, as do so many other Americans. I like beef and pork, too, and Tyson does those as well. These guys kill 25,000 chickens every day! Take THAT, you arrogant descendants of T-Rex! Meanwhile, I'll keep eating chicken and stuff. My kids prefer Tyson nuggets to any other kind of nugget. If we're going to microwave sausage, it might as well be Jimmy Dean which is a Tyson Brand. They have a really big place in a market that isn't going to go away any time soon. They pay dividends, but not a great one...I expect this to change soon. People are saying that food-price deflation will hurt Tyson. But we aren't really seeing much deflation on the consumer end. So someone is pocketing that difference, and I doubt Tyson will continue allowing that to happen without getting its own cut. If the consumers are still going to pay a lot for food, Tyson will get it's piece of that pie. Even with lower prices and tough competition, Tyson will survive and will outperform more specialized competitors like Sanderson and Pilgrim's Pride. They also do a lot of business (that gets no attention) in rendering, mostly rendering their own products. This is like the old myth about Indians...except it's true: they actually ARE using all the parts of the animals they slaughter...even melting down the bones and stuff to make feed-grade products and glue and other not-so-pleasant things that we prefer not to think about but have to come from SOMEWHERE and whose sales are basically all gravy! :)

TSN is a leader in the industry and seems to have righted the ship and this could mean a nice run over the next 24 months.
